Grab your surfboard, put on your swimsuit, and gear up for an exciting annual tradition just steps from our Waikiki Beach hotel. Duke's Oceanfest is a one-of-a-kind sports festival held every summer in honor of the Hawaiian legend Duke Paoa Kahanamoku. This iconic ambassador of Aloha loved getting out on the water, and the sports included in Duke's Oceanfest were all close to his heart.
The events kick off with the opening ceremony on August 20th and run right through August 28th. A few of the highlights include Duke's Ocean Mile Swim, the Waikiki Tandem Contest, and the Outrigger Canoe Regata. Of course, everyone loves the Going to the Dogs Surfur Competition with your furry friends hopping on a board to ride the waves. Come watch the guardians of the beach show off their skills during the Lifeguard Challenge and don't miss a fun game of Beach Volleyball along the water. But the fun doesn't end when the surfing stops. As night falls, you can sign up for events like luaus featuring Hawaiian music and entertainment and movies right along the beach.
The action takes place from August 20th to 28th close to our Waikiki Beach hotel, and you can sign up for dozens of different sporting activities. Take a look at the official schedule to see which ones appeal to you!
