Polynesian Bowl - Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber

Talented high school football players of Polynesian ancestry will be coming to Hawaii for the inaugural Polynesian Bowl on January 21 at Aloha Stadium. The event, organized by the Polynesian Hall of Fame, gives these elite athletes the chance to show off their talents in front of a crowd of Hawaiian natives and guests.

Invitations have been sent out to high school athletes with Hawaiian, Samoan, Tongan, and other ancestries, and teams will be formed at a Draft Luau held in Oahu on Monday, 1/16. The teams will be chosen by their captains, who are former winners of the Polynesian College Player of the Year Award, Marcus Mariota and Ronnie Stanley. Tickets start at just $12 for General Admission.

Or choose to watch the event while you lie on Waikiki Beach, not far from your hotel. The event will be streamed live on ESPN3. Waikiki Beach is a great place to watch talented Hawaiian athletes on their surfboards and in outrigger canoes.

If you want to learn more about the culture these athletes come from, take time to visit the Polynesian Cultural Center. The center brings together traditions from seven South Pacific islands for you to explore. Try your hand at their games and sports, including twirling Maori Poi, paddling canoes, and throwing spears. You can also learn how to make fire and cook in the traditional way, or simply sit back and indulge in Hawaiian culinary traditions at the luau.

Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber is just steps from Waikiki Beach and just a 1/2 hour's drive from Aloha Stadium. Wherever you choose to watch the Polynesian Bowl and experience Polynesian culture, we make it easy to get to the action.
