The Aloha spirit turns spooky for Halloween. There's still plenty of fun and sunshine around Waikiki Beach hotels, with the addition of special events for a devilishly good time. Here's where to go throughout October in order to celebrate Halloween 2016 in Waikiki.
See a Halloween-themed laser light show at the Bishop Museum, Honolulu's natural history and culture museum. The Fright Lights matinees or Friday night shows all month long set the lights to a scary soundtrack featuring songs like Thriller and other monster hits.
Sea Life Park, home to sea lions, penguins, dolphins, and sharks, turns into Spook Life Park on October 22. There'll be trick-or-treating around the park, an underwater pumpkin-carving demonstration, a costume competition, and more Halloween-themed events. There's another oceanic Halloween event at the Waikiki Aquarium on October 30 and 31, with free entry for kids who come dressed in costume.
Celebrate Halloween with a music and arts festival Hawaiian style when Hallowbaloo takes over the streets of the Chinatown Arts District on October 29. Erykah Badu DJs. The event includes a street festival and the Hallowballoo Ball. One ticket gets you into 10 clubs. Trolley service means getting to the venues isn't scary, and you can party 'til the wee hours.
Art After Dark
Say "Boo" at the Honolulu Art Museum on October 28. There'll be a costume contest and food, drink and drag entertainment.
Restaurant Row Block Party
The restaurants on M Street are hosting a slasher-themed block party October 31. The outdoor portion is free until midnight. Wear your best clothes or best costume for admission to the nightclub.
