Honolulu Hotel - 99th Annual King Kamehameha Celebration

King Kamehameha the Great ruled Hawaii from 1975 to 1819, and is known and loved for unifying the separate islands under one dynasty. While several more King Kamehamehas succeeded him, the original king retains the title of the greatest - and every summer, his reign is celebrated all across the Hawaiian Islands. This June 12 and 13, you can get in on the action during the 99th Annual King Kamehameha Celebration in Honolulu. The excitement starts on Friday, June 12 at 3PM with the King Kamehameha Statue Lei Draping Ceremony - using hand sewn leis by the ladies of ‘Ahahui Ka‘ahumanu. On Saturday, the city explodes with color and revelry with the 99th Annual King Kamehameha Floral Parade and Ho‘olaule‘a. Starting at 9AM at the corner of King and Richards Streets, the parade winds through the town and ends at Kapiolani Park.

Following the parade until 4PM, Kapiolani Park is the site of the Ho‘olaule‘a - that's Hawaiian for party. You'll find arts and crafts vendors, food and beverages, local performers and all kinds of fun. Are you looking for a place to stay nearby?
